What season or climate are you planning for?

This decides how many layers and dresses you need.

How the Capsule Wardrobe Planner Works

The planner turns four quick answers into a complete wardrobe plan. It starts with a balanced split of tops, bottoms, dresses, layers, shoes, bags and accessories, then adjusts that split for your season and the way you actually live. A fall plan gets more layers. A summer plan gets more dresses and fewer jackets. If most of your week is spent at work, you get more bottoms and a structured bag. If you go out often, you get more dresses and dressier shoes.

Every category keeps a sensible minimum, and the numbers always add up to the capsule size you chose. You will never get a plan that forgets shoes or gives you half a dress.

What the Planner Considers

  • Season or climate: Spring, summer, fall, winter, year-round or travel. This changes how many layers and dresses you get, and which pieces are suggested. A summer plan will not tell you to buy a chunky sweater.
  • Lifestyle mix: Split your week between work or office, casual and everyday, going out, and active or athleisure. The four sliders always total 100 percent, so giving one more means giving the others less.
  • Style: Choose one to three of Classic, Minimalist, Boho, Casual Chic, Edgy and Cozy. Your first pick leads the color palette, and the others are blended into your pieces.
  • Capsule size: Mini (15 pieces), Standard (25), Full (35), or a travel capsule sized to the number of days you are away.

In return you get exact piece counts for every category, a color palette of neutrals and accents, five to seven outfit formulas with examples built from your own pieces, an estimate of your potential outfit combinations, and a checklist you can print or save.

How to Use Your Capsule Wardrobe Plan

  1. Tick what you already own. The checklist shows how many pieces you still need in each category, so you only shop for the gaps.
  2. Buy neutrals first. Aim for roughly 80 percent of your pieces in your neutral colors and use the accent colors for the rest.
  3. Use the outfit formulas. Each formula is a repeatable recipe, such as top, bottom, layer and shoes. Try every formula with different pieces from your list.
  4. Test before you buy. A new piece should work in at least three outfits with things you already own.
  5. Save your plan. Print it or save it as a PDF, or copy it as text into your notes app.

Rebuild your plan at the start of each season. Use the Edit / Redo button to change your answers without starting from scratch.

Capsule Wardrobe Planner FAQ

How many pieces should a capsule wardrobe have?

Most capsule wardrobes have 25 to 40 pieces per season. If you are new to the idea, start with a mini capsule of about 15 pieces and add more as you learn what you actually wear. The planner offers 15, 25 and 35 pieces.

Do shoes, bags and accessories count as pieces?

Yes. The planner counts shoes, bags and key accessories so your plan is complete. Underwear, sleepwear and gym-only gear are not included in the total.

How many outfits can I make from a capsule wardrobe?

A well-planned 25-piece capsule can create several hundred combinations. The planner multiplies your tops, bottoms, shoes and layers to estimate this. Treat it as potential combinations, since not every combination suits every occasion.

Is the capsule wardrobe planner free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no account. You can print your plan, save it as a PDF or copy it as text.

Can I plan a travel capsule wardrobe with it?

Yes. Choose the Travel size and enter how many days you will be away. The planner scales the number of pieces to your trip and suggests easy-to-pack pieces that mix and match.
